Part of the charm of the Philippines is its not politically correct!

Political correctness is a good thing coupled with common sense but over the years in the UK its gone right past it and headed into the town of stupidity.

Things like the kids hitting the laundry tub with the cold water from the deep water well and wanting to share photos of the kids is the sort of thing in the UK that may be frowned upon these days.

Fact is its kids being kids and their grandparents are miles away on the other side of the planet. These sort of things are family moments caught in time that may not be seen as politically correct but they are life! There is nothing wrong with the kids enjoying the cool water on a day which is extremely hot. Especially while their pool is in for repair.

But that is one of the things with the Philippines many things that are seen as wrong in the West don’t apply in the Philippines because many things haven’t changed over time. The phrase the Philippines is 50 years behind the rest of the world used to be used but to be honest I think some of this stuff is just life is life.

The infrastructure and demands of things like the increasing BPO industry are dragging the Philippines kicking and screaming into the modern world. In the last 5 years I have seen huge changes in available consumerism goods. Still miles behind but compared to the previous options its leaping forward.

I hope it manages to keep a lot of the Political Correct brigade off its shores though as it can pollute society instead of helping it. When someone is unsure what to call someone who is “black” yet the same person calls themselves “Black British” when they define themselves there is a problem. Either everyone is just British or people shouldn’t yell racist when someone defines them as being “black”. Because for me people are people, what I don’t like is the two sides of the coin manipulating racial issues for their own agenda’s as its confusing for the majority and likely to cause racial tensions.

Bizarre world we live in and a lot of this stuff isn’t happening in the Philippines yet. No doubt if foreign investment increased and the introduction of more western ideals happened this will be one of the things that will become as messed up as the UK though.
