800 years have passed since the relic of St. Clare of Assisi was shown to the general public and the Philippines has been chosen as its first destination.
The bone fragment from the saintly nuns cranium was flown in from Manila for its tour outside Italy, arriving in Cebu at 3pm on Ash Wednesday.
Greeted by officials and devotees at the airport VIP lounge before transferring by motorcade to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, where it will be kept until today, Thursday.
After that its heading to the Poor Clare Monastery in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, where it would remain until Saturday morning.
St.Clare founded the Order of Poor Ladies and was believed to have performed many miracles including the defense of the Italian city of Assisi from invaders.
