It didn’t stop there mind as it then moved on to Graham Fletcher who told U.S. officials China was running rings round Japan in Southeast Asia although was plagued with internal issues"While China might look impressive externally its internal politics were characterized by nervousness, paranoia and uncertainty,"
On East Timor, Ritchie stated there was "the continuing burden of providing security and development assistance to East Timor (and) problems of bad governance in many of the Pacific Island states."
The current foreign minister also reportedly urged the U.S. to step in and consider using force against China in the worst case scenario.
